Share
Day 1:
Our adventure kicked off with a high-level group of 3 cyclists tackling a challenging 102 km route with 2,200 meters of elevation gain. We rode through the picturesque towns of El Burgo, Serrato, Alcalá del Valle, Setenil de las Bodegas, Arríate, and finished in Ronda. The pace was brisk, but halfway through we took a relaxing break to enjoy coffee, some local sweets, and, of course, capture a few memorable photos.
Day 2:
We cruised through the beautiful Genal Valley accompanied by two cyclists, passing charming small villages nestled in the chestnut-filled mountains. A highlight was visiting Júzcar, famously known as “The Smurf Village” due to the movie. The day covered 65 km with 1,600 meters of climbing—perfect for enjoying nature at a steady pace.
Day 3:
The longest and most lively day saw a larger group of about 8 riders. We headed to the historic town of Olvera to explore its impressive castle, and treated ourselves to some of the local sweets. Covering 125 km and climbing 2,700 meters, it was a fun, rewarding day full of camaraderie and stunning scenery.
Day 4:
We continued discovering the Genal Valley, cycling through the villages of Cortes de la Frontera and Algatocín. This day was especially demanding for one of our cyclists who used it as a key training session to prepare for upcoming competitions in their home country. The route was 95 km with 2,200 meters of elevation gain.
Day 5:
The queen stage took us through the highest mountains of the Serranía de Grazalema, including climbs of some of the region’s most famous passes like the Puerto de las Palomas. It was a tough day but extremely rewarding once completed. With the support of our follow vehicle, refreshments including sandwiches and coffee made the challenge easier and more enjoyable. The ride covered 94 km with 2,000 meters of climbing.
Day 6:
On the final day, legs were feeling the fatigue from a full week of hard training, and the heat was also taking its toll. We enjoyed a more relaxed 71 km ride with 1,500 meters of elevation, including a visit to the beautiful Montejaque reservoir and its stunning views. The day was filled with fun moments—one highlight was spotting a rider cycling with their shorts on backwards, which brought plenty of laughs!
